Dental prosthesis fixed or mobile

Full and partial dentures are types of mobile dental prosthesis that are used to replace missing teeth and restore the appearance and function of the mouth.

Full dentures, also known as complete dentures, are used when all the teeth in one or both jaws are missing.

They consist of a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits over the gums and supports a set of artificial teeth. Full dentures can be either conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are made after the remaining teeth have been extracted and the gums have healed, which can take several weeks. Immediate dentures are made in advance and can be placed immediately after the teeth are extracted, allowing the patient to have teeth right away.

Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing and the remaining natural teeth are healthy and strong. They consist of a metal or acrylic framework that attaches to the remaining teeth using metal clasps, with artificial teeth attached to the framework to fill in the gaps. Partial dentures are removable and can be taken out for cleaning and maintenance.
